Watershed Conservation
Our mission is to pursue and organize conservation projects, activities, and education to promote the health of the Upper Penns Creek Watershed, and to build relationships with landowners and partner organizations to accomplish these goals.
Conservation Projects
The Watershed Committee seeks out, initiates, and coordinates projects that preserve or enhance water quality and riparian habitat in the Upper Penns Creek Watershed.
Examples of past and current projects include; stream bank fencing, riparian buffer planting, wetland restoration, stream bank regrading and compaction, sediment control devices in streams, and agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs).
We partner with various agencies and organizations to accomplish our goals, often through grant funding. While all of these agencies and organizations are important, our most valued partners are the many farmers and private landowners who welcome us onto their land. The cooperation of these conservation-minded individuals is essential to our mission of preserving, enhancing, and protecting water quality and riparian habitat in the Upper Penns Creek Watershed.
