StreamBank Cleanup

scheduled SATURDAY APRIL 22nd 2017 (9am-12noon or so)

Each spring PVCA conducts a stream bank cleanup. On the designated day, we set up "headquarters" at Coburn Park and fan out from there. A dumpster is provided. We cover portions of Pine, Elk, and Penns Creeks. Sinking Creek and other tributaries are often included. While we provide guidance and recommended target areas, volunteers sometimes choose where they would like to focus their attentions. The boy scout troop, for example, has cleaned the Millheim Borough mill race - an appendage to Elk Creek - in the past. Every piece of trash removed from the streambanks is one that is not polluting the creeks.

As in the past, we will rendezvous at 9am at the park in Coburn. Gloves, vests provided here. We cover quite a bit of territory, so generally we provide the cleanup assignment. If you have a place in mind, it's yours. Show up and volunteer. Bring friends. It's easy! Walk the streambank, bag some trash.

Light refreshments always seem to materialize; so there's that incentive too.

Also: A facebook page for the event was created; additional info is posted there. Note: if the link provided is tempermental, simply search for "annual streambank cleanup" & you should find it.
